Coinbase is the big US-legal exchange — which makes it the natural landing spot for everyone who finds out Binance doesn’t serve the US. Coinbase actually runs two different referral programs, and most coupon sites blur them together. They shouldn’t: one gives you a sign-up bonus, the other pays the person who referred you and gives you nothing. Both links on this page are labeled accordingly.
The standard referral (this is the one with a bonus for you)
Per Coinbase’s own program terms, the flow is:
- Sign up through the referral link with a brand-new Coinbase account.
- Verify your identity (standard KYC — it’s a regulated US exchange).
- Make the minimum qualifying purchase on regular Coinbase using a bank transfer, debit card, or credit card, within 90 days of becoming trade-eligible.
Both sides then receive the bonus that was listed when you signed up. Two traps worth knowing: the purchase must happen on regular Coinbase — buys made on Coinbase Advanced or Prime explicitly don’t count toward the referral — and Coinbase deliberately doesn’t publish one fixed bonus number; the amount varies by country and campaign. Whatever figure your sign-up page shows is the real one; treat any coupon site quoting a hard “$10” or “$200” as describing a campaign that may no longer exist.
Also worth knowing: joining through a referral link makes you ineligible for Coinbase’s other new-user promos (the first-buy incentives it sometimes runs). You get one door in — compare before you pick.
The Advanced referral (honest version: it pays us, not you)
The second link on this page is for Coinbase’s Advanced trading program. Under its published agreement, it pays the referrer a commission on the referred trader’s exchange fees — and grants the new user no separate sign-up bonus. We list it because active traders sometimes want the Advanced onboarding path specifically, but if you’re new and want a bonus, use the standard link above. Most sites won’t tell you that; it’s the whole reason this site exists. Note the Advanced program’s own geography is stricter too: it excludes residents of the UK, Philippines, Turkey, and Canada entirely.
FAQ
Which link should I use?
New to Coinbase and want the bonus → the standard referral link. Experienced trader heading straight for Advanced with no bonus expectations → the Advanced link.
Does buying on Coinbase Advanced count toward the standard bonus?
No — Coinbase’s terms are explicit that Advanced and Prime purchases don’t qualify. Make the qualifying purchase on regular Coinbase first.
How long until the bonus pays out?
Coinbase states eligible payouts land within 5–15 days of the qualifying purchase.
I’m outside the US — can I use these?
It depends. The standard program excludes UK and Turkey residents entirely; the Advanced program additionally excludes the Philippines and Canada. Elsewhere, the bonus amount your sign-up page shows is the one that applies to your country — and we’d rather tell you all of that here than let you find out after signing up.
